KL3M research adds a proposed provenance and rewards pilot
New research proposes evaluating KL3M and its separate Data Project in a bounded provenance pilot. KL3M remains a research candidate alongside the selected Nemotron 3 Ultra target.
Proposed pilot
The proposed pilot would record artifact versions, source permissions and generated examples. It would evaluate factual support, citation accuracy, unintended reproduction and operating cost before adaptation.
Provenance and certification limits
The research distinguishes the reviewed checkpoint from the later Data Project. It calls for checkpoint-specific lineage evidence and certification scope before making ancestry or certification claims.
Proposed licensing approach
The proposed approach would preserve applicable CC BY 4.0 credits, notices and upstream freedoms. Proposed contributor agreements could not turn freely licensed KL3M material into a mandatory royalty entitlement.
Independent development limits
The research distinguishes licensed adaptation, training on generated examples and training new weights on an independently reviewed corpus. It says provenance disclosures alone do not establish a legal clean-room defense.
Documentation index
The README now lists the KL3M research, including licensing, certification limits and the proposed attribution and rewards pilot.
